How the hell can someone’s parents not support their daughter’s dreams?

Because I just really don’t get it. Emeliene at least deserves their full support. If she wants to be a soldier, so then be it. It’s her greatest dream. You can clearly see the passion in her heart and the sparkle in her eyes whenever she talks about her plans. I get that her parents aren't considering this because she’s the only girl in their family, but screw that. Her parents are way below the belt. Forcing her to study pharmacy instead of what their kid wants? Jesus Christ, really? She would make everyone happy except for herself. What benefit does the kid get here? She’s good in math. She excels in class. What else do her parents want from her? Do they expect her to be a puppet? That they could control her and her decisions for the rest of her life? No, I don’t think so. Let her push through Engineering, for fuck's sake. Let her do whatever she wants. It's her life. Her decisions. The parents need to have a say in what she gets to do for the rest of her life, but please. Let her decide on her own. She deserves to follow her heart. She deserves the freedom to choose what she wants. She deserves her family's support. This is her future we're talking about.
